This project is an ongoing investigation into a series of strange audio files, recorded and hosted by unknown parties, seemingly recorded in or around Bridgewater, Massachusetts. No one has claimed responsibility for either the recordings, or the QR codes posted in train stations throughout the state, and their purpose is not immediately apparent. My aim is to get to the root of these questions.
I'm not a scientist, or a professional investigator, or professional of any kind. What I am is dedicated, inquisitive, and detail-oritented.
Beyond how neatly this particular mystery seemingly overlaps with existing interests of mine, the truth is that I've begun to think it's not entirely my choice.
I believe that I have no greater justification for a closed-off mind than our brightest thinkers. Ask the most respected figures in nearly any field, and they'll readily detail how incomplete the combined knowledge of their community is, without a hint of shame. I believe there are many truths about the world that, if acknowledged or even earnestly considered on wide enough a scale, would threaten to upend the balance of society as currently organized. And I believe that there are quite a few fortunes that would hang in the balance, meaning quite a few parties who would rather quash the discussions entirely, than allow them entertained to the point of serious scientific examination by parties capable of producing and widely disseminating findings.
It depends on what you mean by "this". The audio recordings really exist. QR codes were really posted in these locations. The links work. Do these recordings actually contain something of interest? I don't think I've been able to prove that to any objective degree thus far, so it's entirely up to your ear. To the extent that there is something to be "in on", I'm not. And unfortunately, I've yet to be contacted by, or locate, anyone who is. I've not written off the possibility of this being some elaborate prank, but if that's what this is... the point escapes me.
The Bridgewater Triangle is a loosely-defined region in Southeastern Massachusetts known for frequent reports of unexplained activity, ranging from UFOs and cryptids to haunting and folklore phenomena. This 16,000 acre area is relevant to these proceedings by virtue of where these recordings appear to be sourced from, and the history they appear to tie into.
My only guess is that the party responsible for sharing the recordings was low on resources, and that the placement of the codes is itself a clue. But really, your guess is as good as mine.

Field recordings (assuming this is what we have here) are not unusual or uncommon on their own. What is unusual about these recordings are the irregularities. Beyond the ever-present static in each recording, these irregularities manifest in different forms depending on the listener, the time of day, and other variables too complex to list here (check the Research Logs). Suffice it to say, within these audio files lies something that compels greater scrutiny.
I've contacted quite a few audio engineers and language researchers for their input but, understandably, not many are interested. Those most likely to find this issue worth investing time into are also unfortunately those hardest to get in touch with. By all means: I welcome your input.
The files have no identifiers like metadata, tags, etc. Each recording was uploaded to Vocaroo, a file-hosting website that requires no registration. The responsible party, at least for the time being, seems to prefer anonymity.
No, unless mentioned where applicable. As of this writing, I have only presented excerpts of the recordings completely unaltered, though this may change as I expand my analysis methods and recruit outside experts. Audio presented here will never be altered without clear explanation and disclaimer, and the links will never be tampered with on my end.
Potentially. There may be a bit of subjective stimuli interpretation at play, but certain phrases (or at least, phonetic fragments) seem to cut through at particular intervals in specific files. There are recurring tones and frequencies across each file, but no one listen ever seems quite the same as the one that preceded it. Further analysis pending.
This could be intentional, or could be the result of any number of technical failures, user error, etc. Some files are degraded in a way that suggests they were passed through multiple compression layers or recording devices. Others behave oddly even when viewed on a spectrogram.
Limited as I am in my budget, I must admit my analysis is rather bare-bones. You can view my resource list here.
PLEASE. LISTEN. Get this audio in front of everyone you can. Share on social media. Follow my TikTok and Instagram accounts, and share those posts as well. If you have a background in audio analysis, history, or linguistics, your insights are especially welcome. If you find similar QR codes or strange recordings and think they may be related, let me know.
Email me. I'd rather drown in a sea of false leads, than die for want of a hopeful drop. Just be specific about the details of what you're hearing, and the timestamp of when you hear it.
Yes and no. Certain analysis methods across different devices have yielded identical results, ruling out a handful of potentially disqualifying technicalities. Still, some of the phenomena could be audio artifacts like clipping, device interference during initial recording, etc.
I can assure you that I am insane. You need look no further than this very site's existence to confirm that. Humor aside... yes, it's something I've considered. Which is why I'm so desperately seeking outside confirmation. The more data points I have to work with, the less subjectivity is at play.
Yes, and I encourage you to do so. Should your contribution prove useful, I'll happily credit you by any name or title you prefer. And given what we're working with, I struggle to imagine a contribution that wouldn't be useful.
Let me know. If you find similar QR codes or strange recordings and think they may be related, please share what you found and where you found it. The more context, the better.
Follow the official social accounts linked throughout this site. Any major findings will be reflected in both the Research Logs and social posts.
Despite the understandable hesitance on the part of some individuals I've spoken with, these files are safe. Each QR code and file has been scanned thoroughly for malware by myself multiple times. With that said, the files shouldn't require downloading if you only wish to hear the audio, rather than run your own analysis.
Should any of the links expire, or be removed by the parties responsible, I will host them myself on a Google drive or something of that nature. If you find a broken link, please let me know.
Certain subtleties in the recordings may not be as audible depending on the headphones used, but 'properly' is really up to you.
